According to a 2024 study by the Harris Poll, 79% of Americans find at least one financial topic intimidating. Topping this list are cryptocurrency (32%), investing (30%), and creating/sticking to a budget (29%). If you’re one of the many people who find investing daunting, read on to learn more about resources you can use to help you feel more prepared to take the next step in your financial journey.

First, educational resources can be a fantastic way to learn more about investing before you get started. One educational resource that could be helpful is articles about investing. For example, MSUFCU and OU Credit Union’s Financial 4.0 website features a variety of investing articles. Bankrate, Investopedia and NerdWallet are also great resources to learn more about investing. Financial education books and podcasts like MSUFCU and OU Credit Union’s Wallet Watch can also be great educational resources. MSUFCU and OU Credit Union’s Fin-Life and Retirement Simplified powered by Silvur are wonderful resources for members to learn more about investing and retirement expenses. Finally, consider attending a financial education session in person or online to learn more about investing and other financial topics.

Next, receiving assistance with your investments can also be a terrific way to begin investing with less stress. TrulyU Wealth Management and Investment Services offers complimentary, no-obligation appointments. TrulyU financial advisers can help you review your finances and establish a plan to pursue your goals.

Lastly, simulator apps are another wonderful resource because they allow you to practice investing before using your own money. Some options you could try include Investopedia Stock Simulator, Wall Street Survivor and MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange. Using a simulator can be a great way to get a feel for investing before officially starting. The gamification of a simulator can be a fun way to learn more about investing too.

Whether you decide to meet with a financial adviser or try investing on your own after completing research or using a simulator app, you have a variety of investment resources at your fingertips. Be sure to continuously check in with yourself to see if there’s a specific topic you want to learn more about or a new type of investing you’re ready to try. How you invest and your comfort level with investing may change over time as you learn more and take advantage of new resources.
